I laid these stone slabs fresh in Autumn 2008, adding an inlay of mixed pebbles set in lime. Rain and sunshine since then have coloured the stone with lichen and algae resulting in an established aged feeling. Add some greenery and the effect is complete to the extent that new visitors to the Open Studio don't believe I made it-they think it was built with the house! Mother Nature takes the credit once again...typical.

Still Life by Luisa Ramazzotti
My partner, Luisa Ramazzotti, is an artist. I thought I'd showcase this still life as I love the tones and textural feel. Luisa does other work as well which , with her permission, I'll show from time to time. It makes a nice warm change from cold, snowy landscapes. We've still got a lot of snow and ice which we'll be glad to see melt. The novelty of a white Christmas has long since worn off now! Mother Nature, however, will not be hurried as ever so we are co-operating with her with patience as we haven't much choice in the matter anyway-I think it's called 'Let Go and Let God'.

My Love is like a red, red rose.
I know I've posted this before but I just wanted some colour again. Actually, if truth be told, I love flowers 'cos I'm a bit of a daisy {pardon the pun!}. Seriously though I was thinking about Burns' poems as I'm fond of his work and especially admire the song of the title above. It's haunting beauty presses people's buttons all over the world and it's timeless message stands as true today as when divine inspiration pressed Rabbie's quill to manuscript so long ago. Love doesn't age with time,.... thank God.

A wee taste 'o' Spring
I know that Spring's a while away but I got fed up with cold snowy photos. Having been limited to the immediate countryside near home for the last few weeks 'cos of my injury it's proved frustrating getting interesting pics for you. That will change soon as I'm more mobile now. Meanwhile, if you know of anyone suffering from insomnia, just direct them to my blog-it's become so dull I'm falling asleep myse........

Get on track-Choose the easy way!
it's worth bearing in mind the following tips to ensure a smooth journey:
1 The minute you let go of the past will be the minute it loses it's hold over you-don't try and leave harbour with your boat still tied to the jetty!
2 You can't have what you want till you want what you have-don't dismiss the things you already have to be thankful for otherwise you'll have trouble letting new goodies into your life!
3 As long as we are concerned by what others think of us, we are owned by them-follow your dreams unhindered by the opinions of others as they will hold you back from reaching your goals!
4 It's not enough just to think of your desires because the secret is to FEEL them as if they are already manifest in your reality-cosmic law states it and, if you focus on this method, you will find it will work for you too!
5 Stop dwelling on what you don't want or you'll just attract more of the same-what you resist, persists!
6 Drop the word 'want' from your vocabulary and replace it with 'desire'-" I want" doesn't get!
7 Have no needs, only desires, and be open to all possibilities the universe may present to you-don't limit your vision!

New Year-New Horizons
Is the energy that gives you life called the Holy Spirit, Prana, Chi, Ki, Reiki...?!
Do you care anyway? Does it matter ultimately? Does 'God' punish Agnostics, Humanists, Gays or Goths for being peaceful, loving and respectful of the views of others?
Trust your heart chakra over everything else-your feelings will never lie to you for within you lies God. If you do not go within you go without.
"Have I not said ye are Gods!?" - Jesus himself said this to all of us.

Lunga wearing Hogmanay Snowbib
Anybody out there make any New Year Resolutions? It's strange that we only appear to have one sacrosanct night of the year to mark by resolving to stop being, or stop doing, things that we know already do not serve us on whatever level. Often we choose to mark this occasion with a vow to keep to our word for good. Why? Few of us keep them with any consistency and then beat ourselves up when we fall from our pedestals. Try this on waking: "Just for today, I will not judge" "Just for today, I will lay off chocolate" "Just for today, I'll abstain from alchohol" "Just for today I will not worry etc. etc. etc. Renew your resolution every day and take away the pressure of huge targets and avoid the huge guilts-It's easier taking each day as it comes! If you slip up, don't berate yourself{You are only human!!} Start the next day afresh without adding guilt and judgement to your daily goals.
